Upcoming Buff App Features:
Hello Buff App users! We hope you are enjoying the Buff app, and more importantly that it’s helping to benefit you and your workouts!
Here is a list of upcoming features we’re working on adding to the app in the near future:
Smith Machine Plan / Smith Machine exercises: We are working on a Smith Machine workout plan, in addition to over twenty Smith Machine exercise tutorials. Look for this bundle in February.
Warm-Up, Pre-Exhaust, and Failure: We are working on the option to be able to mark sets within a workout as either Warm-Up, Pre-Exhaust or Failure. Look for these additions soon.
Stretching & Mobility Plan / Stretching & Mobility exercises: We are working on a Stretching & Mobility workout plan, in addition to many different stretching and mobility exercise tutorials. Look for this bundle in March.
High Intensity Training plan: We are working on a Mike Mentzer inspired ‘HIT’ workout plan. Look for this as soon as we have Warm-Up and Pre-Exhaust options added to the app.
Fitness Watch integration: We are researching the best way to pair the app with fitness watches. Currently there is no date when we’ll be finished, but we will update as soon as we’re farther along in development.
Choosing Alternate Exercises in a Workout Plan: Currently you can replace an exercise when performing a Custom Workout, but we are creating the ability to choose from a list of alternate exercises when performing an official app workout plan as well. There is currently no date on when this will be finished, but we are working on it now.

On each workout is a box with the muscle(s) worked. Can you make that tappable and when you tap on it you get a picture of the muscle on the body?
Hudson White
Hello Tom, that is an interesting feature idea, thank you! I will talk to the team about how feasible that is. I agree, it would be an educational element to the app that would no doubt help many.
Edward Corby
I’m looking forward to the Fitness Watch integration, but will that also inclue Whoop? I understand if that is later down the line, but it saves
Hudson White
Hello Edward, thanks for the feedback! We would absolutely love to have integration with any and all fitness wearables. We’re exploring the best way of doing so now!
Julio c
Hey guys! I’m looking into your app and I’m partially sold.
Will you guys be putting your workout plans i.e the bodyweight plan the 12 week program? Etc
Also is the app helping you calculate adding/subtracting weight?
Hudson White
Hello Julio. At the moment you can easily import prior plans using Workouts>Custom>+Create Routine. It’s a free feature. And regarding adding/subtracting weight, can you elaborate on exactly what you mean by that? Thanks!
Adam
Hi Buff Dudes, great work on the App, I’ve been enjoying it and have been using it for a custom routine based on your cutting plan and also doing the 10 Minute Abs Program. It’s definitely motivated me to push myself on my lifts.
I’ve also been logging my cardio, mainly brisk walking, running and elliptical. Is it feasible for the set field (currently KM and Seconds) to have separate fields for minutes and seconds, or an option to have overall time and pace in our selected unit (either kilometers or miles)?
The other suggestion is to have the ability to note assistance for exercises. For example, I’m doing pull-ups and dips on a synergy machine with assistance from plates (not sure how they are calibrated weight wise as only labelled 1-17). Maybe you could use the Duration and Weight option when creating a custom exercise but allow negative numbers in the field to show the assistance.
Thanks again
Hudson White
Hi Adam, thanks for the feedback! Super happy to hear you’re enjoying the app. That means everything to us.
Currently cardio isn’t really implemented in the app (we have exercise tutorials for walking and running, which we were probably a little pre-mature in adding!) but it’s absolutely something we’ll add in the future. At the moment our top priorities are taking care of some bugs which didn’t present themselves until the app went live (the lbs to kg conversion issue being the biggest one) and once we have everything running 100% smooth, we plan on getting to work on adding to the app. It’s our goal to never stop. First up on our list will be the integration with fitness watches and the ability to select alternate exercises when performing one of the app plans. After that we would like to jump on cardio, as it’d be extremely helpful for everyone (including myself!)
For the assistance idea, I will talk to the team to see how we could go about doing this. In the meantime, feel free and use the exercise notes where you can note what little tweaks you made to the exercise. (I use notes when doing little variations on exercises, i.e.: “I did twisting hanging leg raises instead of side bends”)
Again, appreciate the feedback. That’s how the app will become even better.
Moses
Hey buff dudes, is it possible to add in a meal plan feature based on customised macros. And also some recipes to cook according to the macros aswell. I think that would be a great addition to the app. Love the layout of the app and how it works soo far. Thanks
Hudson White
Hi Moses, thanks for the suggestion! As of now we’re going to keep it strictly workout related, as the implementation of recipes/calories/macros would be a huge undertaking for us. We’re going to constantly be adding now features for the foreseeable future, and once we have the app exactly where we want it in regards to being the best workout app it can be, we’ll consider the eating aspect!
Gary
Loving the app so far! Is there any chance of a plate calculator being included? It would be really handy to have one for barbells, Smith machine exercises and plate loaded machines as well!
Hudson White
Hi Gary, I apologize for the delayed response! We’ve added your suggestion to the list of possible future additions. I appreciate your feedback!
James Corner
Loving the app so far, however, will the app have a auto progressive overload feature will you complete all set and reps? I am not sure if the app has this feature already, just now completing week one of the dumbell program.
Thanks,
Hudson White
Hello James, thanks for the feedback! Prior weight and reps display in the “Previous” tab once you begin a new workout which features past exercises you’ve performed. By tapping them you can either have them auto-fill, or, if you wish to use progressive overload you can go up accordingly. Hope that helps!

One thing that is missing that I don’t think if included above is app integrations, is there any plans to be able to read / write automatically from apps like MyFitnessPal / apple health?
It’s really useful being able to weigh myself using one app (Renpho) and have that weigh in automatically cascade out to apple health and other integrated apps, this would be super cool to automatically have weigh ins logged in the buff app too.
What hopefully will come with the fitness watch integration would also be calories burnt, this too would be great to see cascade out to other apps like apple health and MyFitnessPal to help see how many calories you have left :).
Great app and can already see it getting better, keep up the good work guys!
Hudson White
Hi Luke, thanks for reaching out! At the moment there is not, but it’s absolutely something we’re exploring and 100% plan to integrate. It’s one of our priority additions and we’ll try to get it in as soon as we can. And we appreciate the kind words! It’s our goal to constantly be adding not only new plans and exercises but features as well.
Ash
Hey Buff Dudes,
Loving the app so far! I would recommend an option for the notes section to where it gets bumped down, like a paragraph line, instead of scrolling far to the right. I realize this would essentially extend the length of each page, but being able to see the notes in a more bullet point way would be nice, then I can just hide the notes when I’m done. Or if it’s just me being on Android, if I try to hit enter on the page it’ll essentially confirm the notes. Can’t wait to see what else you guys come up with!
Stay Buff!
Hudson White
Ash, that’s an excellent suggestion, thank you! I will get that added to our list of modifications now.
Aaron Ankers
An option to delete void workouts so it doesn’t affect your starts would be grate for example IV had to re record today’s workouts because I didn’t type in all my weights and now I have 2 workouts recorded and my OCD is in overdrive
Hudson White
Hello Aaron, thanks for the feedback! We will look into exploring how to fix this issue. In the meantime, do you think you could reach out to us at [email protected] with the e-mail tied to your account? We’ll see about manually resetting the data.
Steve Eyles
Hi guys! Been a fan for many years!! Great app! I’ve used the gymshark app for last 5/6years but I’m now all in on BUFF 💪🏼
Couple things I’d like to see, a way of prevents my phone from auto locking when the app is open because the ‘rest timer epic noise’ doesn’t sound unless app is open. Saying that, if I am responding to a text or anything, then having the epic sound still play if app isn’t open would be a great addition. Thanks guys! Keep up the incredible content!
Hudson White
Hi Steve, thanks so much for the suggestion and super happy to hear you’re enjoying the app! I’ve just added your note to our document of app fixes, and we will get on that as soon as we can. Feel free to reach out anytime! Our plan is to continue to add and improve the app as much as we can.
Lukas
Hey guys!
Love the app – but I‘ve got a lot of errorcode-420 lately.
Can’t even send the Report via the the report button in the app. Is that a already know problem? Maybe just for me in the EU..
Hudson White
Hello Lukas – thank you so much for reaching out! Can you please try logging out and logging back in? That should be the fix, but if you experience any future issues feel free to reach back out to me here or at [email protected].
Wyatt
Hey Dudes,
I’m currently doing the Buff Dudes Cutting Plan and creating the workouts in the app under custom workouts. Creating a custom workout in the app is a breeze. It would be great is we could put custom workouts into a group. It would clean up the custom workout tab, so once we do the next plan it would be easy to sort through workouts by plan. The app overall is great!
Hudson White
Hello Wyatt, that’s an excellent idea we’d never thought of! We’re currently working on some other new features at the moment (the ability to use drop sets, pre-exhaust, failure, warm-up) but I am going to add your idea to the list of future additions!
Ben Mathus
I completed my first workout this evening and really enjoyed the app but I have a couple of requests.
1. When performing unilateral exercises (dumbbell row, for example) it would be awesome to track reps for each arm, individually so that I can identify my progress. I’m recovering from a SLAP tear in my left shoulder so there is a definite muscle imbalance.
2. I LOVE to utilize Myo Reps, is there any possibility of recording them so that I can look back and compare failure in the rep range rather than just stating that I completed all 12 reps in one go?
App is awesome, keep up the great work.

Hudson White
Hi Ben,
Happy to hear you’re enjoying the app and thank you for the suggestions! We are currently in the middle of designing new features (the ability to mark sets as Warm-Up, Failure and Drop Sets in addition to marking individual exercises as “Pre-Exhaust”) but we will get your suggestions added to the list of possible future additions.
Frank
Love the app! Thank you so much for creating. Easy to handle and great overview.
Would love to have a better way of creating own routines. Most importantly Pairing multiple workouts into one group so that I can create a 12 week workout plan and have it under one folder instead and even “sub-folders” or stages instead of just single workouts that I need to give a loooong name to remember in what phase they are meant to be performed.
Hudson White
Hello Frank. Thank you so much!
The sub-category is an excellent idea we hadn’t thought of. We’ve got a big list of new implementations we’re working on, but we will definitely add that one as well. We will try to begin exploring the option of adding it as soon as we can! (Currently we are working on adding “Warm-Up, Drop Sets, Failure and Pre-Exhaust” as options in your workout)
Dan
Hi Hudson,
Really love this app!
Would it be possible to add on abduction and adduction machines as there are only exercise band variations available to check. Also some machines ask for the weight but some machines have variations such as double or single leg extensions so would it be possible to have a feature that has “per leg” or split weight so when training unilaterally we can track the variations in leg strength to help develop them evenly if there is weaknesses?
Thanks!
P.S i have been watching you, Brandon and Duke for around 12 years on YouTube ever since i started training in high school! You are inspirational! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Stay Buff 💪🏻
Hudson White
Hi Dan,
Happy to hear you’re enjoying the app! And I have good news! We will be adding the adduction and abduction machine exercises this week. Look for them today or tomorrow in the app!
Regarding the unilateral movements: yes, I agree, that’s a great idea to add a “per side” on those particular exercises. We are currently working on the “pause workout” feature in addition to adding the option of marking sets as “warm-up, drop set, failure” and exercises as “pre-exhaust,” but once we’re finished with those, we will get to work on other new features and we’ll add the “per side” idea to the list!
